Parisette, a young dancer is Cogolin's niece. Joaquin de Costabella, a Portuguese nobleman, is struck by the young woman's resemblance to his daughter, who died an untimely death. After being accused of a murder he didn't commit, Cogolin escapes to Nice. Meanwhile, evidence reveals that Parisette is actually the deceased woman's sister. Despite a series of misadventures, Cogolin is cleared and the mystery of Costabella's fortune is unravelled.
