Gaumont begins filming its new series: Peau d’Vache
A series exploring the agricultural world and the crises it faces.
Synopsis: “Rudy, a gruff adviser at the Chamber of Agriculture, is nicknamed ‘Peau d’Vache’ by the farmers of Terre-Sainte, whom he often helps despite themselves. When another drought strikes the region, Rudy is unable to save Bastien, his childhood friend, from bankruptcy. Driven into a corner, Bastien takes his own life. To protect Marianne, his widow, from his debts, Rudy does the unthinkable: he stages the suicide as an accident. Shaken awake by the tragedy, Rudy questions for the first time the system he has always defended, while Marianne tries to take over the farm. Bound by a secret, Rudy and Marianne face a heatwave that pushes the entire farming community to breaking point.”
Filming of Peau d’Vache, a six-part series of 45-minute episodes produced by Gaumont for Arte France and Umedia (Belgium), began on 22 September and will continue until 11 December 2026.
The series was created by Alexis Bessin, in collaboration with Claude Le Pape, and is directed by Louis Farge. Produced by Isabelle Degeorges and Clémentine Vaudaux, it stars Alice Isaaz and Jean Chevalier alongside Gustave Kervern, Irène Jacob, Nicolas Briançon, Emilie Lehuraux, Christophe Favre, Laurent Van Wetter, Muriel Bersy, Manuel Guillot, Hubert Delattre and David Marsais.
