India, 1911. Elise, a little girl, and Tusk, a baby elephant, are born the very same day on a vast teakwood plantation managed by John Morisson. From that day on, their fates are intertwined. At a very early age, both animal and girl are free-spirited, with minds of their own. Elise's father sends her to London to finish her education and turn her into a respectable heiress, while Tusk is forced into slavery. Upon her return, Elise has to protect him from dangerous elephant hunters.
