Alex Rodak, a Polish theater director, lives in exile in London with his family. He is in the process of producing a show about his native country in the midst of countless difficulties. Meanwhile his oldest son, who is going through a disturbed phase, decides to go to Poland to see for himself what the country is really like. To defy the Polish authorities, he dyes his hair and paints his face with startling make-up.
