Under the reign of Louis the XVth, the people's discontent is growing. One of the regime's opponents, Mandrin is revolted by the suffering of the poor and becomes an outlaw, known far and wide as a righter of wrongs. Although his fiancée Antoinette is still his beloved, he falls for Myrtille, a young Bohemian who crosses his path. But faced with a choice between love and adventure, Mandrin remains true to his legend, every ready to help the oppressed.
