Louberger, the director of an orphanage, is always singing the praises of a former boarder, Mr. Sauval who has become their benefactor. One night, Sauval shows up and is a far cry from the man Louberger has described. Indeed, he has become a disreputable lawyer and is wanted for a crime he has just committed. Despite all his attempts, Sauval does not manage to escape the police but does succeed in keeping his legend alive for the children.
