Lucas, a motherless eight year-old, lives with his father on a farm in Brittany. A close friendship grows up between the little boy and Maeva, a pretty Welsh cow. Unfortunately, one of the cattle catches mad cow's disease and the whole herd must be slaughtered. Lucas leaves for Paris with his father. With the help of Sarah, a writer, they have embarked on the impossible mission of asking the President of France to spare Maeva's life.
