Paul and Denise are an ordinary couple - no problems, no children. To liven up their existence, they buy an inflatable doll they call Paulette. They treat it like a living thing, speak to it with kindness and take it on vacation with them to the South of France. But the doll becomes increasingly personified in the course of events.
