Anne cannot stand to be touched, not even by her husband, so she goes back to her parents' house. The thirty year old woman persuades her mother to go live with her other, pregnant, daughter. Once Anne is alone with her father, she tries to cut him off from everyone else. She loves him completely, selfishly, and incestuously. At the maternity ward where her sister has just her baby, Anne thinks that she, too, is perhaps pregnant.
