La bataille de France

Release date 1964 90 min Documentary

Newsreel editing recounts the events of the 'phony war' and 1940 German invasion. The Germans' schemes for Czechoslovakia trigger an international crisis. French and English Prime Ministers Chamberlain and Daladier initiate discussions to find a peaceful outcome to the conflict. Prompted by Mussolini, the Munich Accords are signed. Peace is apparently preserved but the Allies' appeasement strategy clearly encourages Hitler to pursue his aggressive policy.
