Roberto, a prodigal young conductor, has grown from the curly-headed boy of the "Prelude to Glory" into a likeable teenager. During a concert tour, he meets his father Lorenzo, a great pianist now a liquor-guzzling has-been who had earlier left his wife and child. With a little help from Roberto and his mother, Lorenzo pulls himself together and the family is reunited again.
