Hôtel des Invalides
Year of production 1951 Documentary . 22 min
A tour of the Hôtel des Invalides, with a focus on the Saint Louis Chapel and Army Museum where François the First's armor and Guynemer's plane on exhibit. Georges Franju, the thought-provoking director of "Yeux sans Visage" et "La tête contre les murs", and his poetic and ironic outlook have turned a documentary into a fierce satire of war. Michel Simon does the voice-over and the music, his first composition for film, is by Maurice Jarre.
