Berlin after the war. Twelve year old Edmund is black-marketeering to help support his family. Roaming through the city rubble, he meets an old teacher of his. In his talks with the boy, the ex-Nazi recalls Hitler's doctrine advocating the elimination of the weak. Without realizing the consequences of his action, Edmund poisons his sick father. In the end, the child is overcome with remorse and commits suicide.
