Beatrice Cenci

In the sixteenth century, a cruel lord called François Cenci lives in a castle with his wife Lucrèce, his daughter Beatrice, and Giacomo, his son by an earlier marriage. Lucrèce and Giacomo have become lovers; they successfully carry out a plot to murder her husband. They let Beatrice and Olympio (whom she loves and is bailiff of the castle) be accused of the crime. Olympio unearths the evidence proving their innocence, but too late. Giacomo and his mistress are, however, punished for their crime.
