Adhémar has a funny face, and ever since his childhood he has had to endure the gales of laughter it inevitably sets off. A friend tries to help out by getting him all sorts of jobs - director of a funeral parlor, glassblower, caregiver - but to no avail. Adhémar ends up in a shelter for the destitute but gets kick out for laughing at the other lodgers. At last, he finds his calling as a circus entertainer, delighting audiences with his funny faces and songs.
