In a bar, Ferdinand, a young photographer, meets and falls in love with a young thief called Claire. One day after taking her picture with a man, Fred gets knocked out, and wakes up to find his film has been stolen. But when the police question him, Fred remains silent. Touched by his discretion, Claire tells him that the man in the picture is actually a goon who is riding roughshod over her. Claire and Fred try to start a life together but a rough road lies ahead for the young lovers.
