Raised in an eccentric family, Edouard spends his time courting beautiful strangers and fleeing jealous husbands. For Edouard, life is just a boundless source of pleasure. In the course of his travels, he meets Helene, the wife of a stodgy industrialist. He immediately attempts to seduce the young woman. Helene is frightened by his outrageous lifestyle at first but Edouard's flights of fancy get the better of her. However, a rude awakening awaits the lovers at a country inn.
