Caroline turns sixteen on July 14th, 1789. During her birthday party, Gaston de Sallanches, supposedly her sister's fiancé, tells Caroline he loves her and shows her some of love's delight. However Caroline is sent off to Paris to finish her education where she is run roughshod by the Revolution. She gets arrested but is saved and can return to the man who first won her love.
