The Russian word Pravda means truth and it is also the title of the official newspaper of the USSR. The Dziga Vertov Group (Jean-Luc Godard et Jean-Pierre Gorin) question this double meaning and, from images shot in Czechoslovakia (speaker of the Czech television, scenes of everyday life, Czech peasants and workers), question how images and sounds can lie to an audience and prove that capitalism is still going strong in the Eastern Europe.
