Twenty year old Christian Ranucci is found guilty of the rape and murder of a little girl. In spite of there being no conclusive evidence, and though the investigation is faulty and riddled with loopholes, Ranucci is guillotined July 28th, 1976 at 4:13 am in the yard of the Baumettes prison. Michel Drach's film is an autopsy of legal procedure. More than just the exposure of Christian Ranucci's individual case, it is an excellent object lesson in the fallibility of human justice.
