In Calcutta, Allan, a young British engineer, falls in love with Gayatri, the daughter of his Indian boss. Allan leaves to supervise a railway work-site in the Assam jungle but, a few weeks later, is brought back to Calcutta with malaria. After he recovers from a three week coma, his boss invites the young Englishman to stay at his home. A passionate, overpowering love between Allan and Gayatri is born.
