Five young men celebrate de 1981 election of French President Francois Mitterrand. Over the next four years, each of the up-and-coming successful professionals will have an affair with the same woman. Just as their personal lives cross, their varied professions correspond to government changes toward education, the arts and finance. Political and sentimental disillusions gradually cause the men to lose enthusiasm.
