Le destin exécrable de Guillemette Babin

Guillemette Babin is the daughter of a witch who was burned alive. After being exorcised, the young woman becomes a servant, plagued by the unwanted attentions of her master. She is attracted to his son who spurns her. She drives the young man to commit suicide. Her mistress then dies and Guillemette marries the widower. The young woman is accused of witchcraft and, like her mother before her, is burned at the stake despite a young reporter's endeavors to wage a battle against superstition.
