Sailors in search of radium land on an island, called Dumont-d'Urville, lost in the middle of the ocean. The only house on the island is an inn run by Anna, a beautiful young woman who lives there with her demented husband, and child. The entire crew falls in love with her. Passion heightened by isolation envenoms the growing tension and folly among the men.
