World War II France. Some German soldiers are killed outside the house where a dinner party among friends is taking place. The group inside is told by the Gestapo that they must choose among themselves two persons who will be shot for the crime. If they do not choose two victims, all seven of them must die. All seven try to save themselves by any means possible, sometimes in a darkly funny way.
