During the Second Empire, Jules Haudouin, a horse dealer, owes his fortune to a naturally green mare. When he dies, he bequeaths his property to his two sons, Honoré and Ferdinand. Then the war breaks out and Mrs. Haudouin consents to be dishonored by a Prussian officer in order to save her son. From that moment on, Honoré is bent on avenging his family's honor. A comedy with a brilliant cast, based on Marcel Aymé's novel.
