Bored with her husband and their provincial life, Albertine goes to Paris where her friend Cecile introduces her to all the Paris socialites. Although at first Albertine is puzzled by their little games, she learns to fit in. She meets a young novelist in vogue and falls in love with him. They spend time together but the young man goes off to write his novel. The young woman's life becomes a giddy dance between lovers and disappointment.
