Pierre Hoffer, a dandy, falls in love with Claudie Duvernay. Financially ruined, Pierre goes to Algeria to stay with his uncle Christian. There, he meets Claudie who's come over to collect an inheritance, and Zoubir, an old pal from military service days. Diane and Jean, Claudie's cousins, plot to deprive her of her fortune.
