Carmine Bonavia, the son of a Sicilian immigrant, is running for mayor of New York. During his campaign, focused on the fight against drugs, he meets a young woman reporter working for an italian network. She suggests he would do better to campaign for the legalization of drugs and encourages him to go to Palermo. But upon arrival, Carmine falls into a trap laid by the Mafia and is forced to accept a deal with them.
