An imaginary city ravaged by the plague. Under the pretext of reducing panic, local politicians help the armed forces overthrow the government. For Dr Bernard Rieux, Dr Castel, Jean Tarrou and Martine Rambert, it's a race against time and death to check the spread of the plague and avoid the looming chaos.
