JOHNNY GOT HIS GUN selected for Cannes Classics 2024

Dalton Trumbo's one-of-a-kind movie will be projected on the beach during a special screening presented by Nicolas Seydoux, President of Gaumont.

This hard-hitting anti-war film, based on the novel of the same name, made a big impression at the 1971 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the International Critic's Prize and the Jury's Special Grand Prix.

Released in 1972, the film recounts the last day of the First World War.

Joe Bonham, who enlisted voluntarily, is blown to pieces by a shell. He loses his arms, legs and face. Deprived of his sensory organs, all he has left is his brain, which thinks and dreams. He tries to communicate with the nurse, managing to move his head in Morse code, but the military doctors reject his pleas and keep him alive against his will.

The cast includes Timothy BOTTOMS, Kathy FIELDS, Marsha HUNT, Jason ROBARDS and Donald SUTHERLAND.
