Synopsis : Jean-Luc Godard does not propose a chronological history of cinema but rather a double exploration, a journey through the Twentieth Century history, in the country of images and an exploration of the creation of Godard himself, a selfportrait of the director. This is the story of the emotions created by cinema and the story of the loneliness of the creator. With excerpts of famous movies, Godard shows how cinema must struggle against photography, TV and literature to reproduce the real. Stories always unfinished and yet passionate for, as Godard says, "we must burn films, burn them with inner fire".

Synopsis : Dopo Histoire(s) du cinéma, Jean-Luc Godard realizza in 35 min un film di una durata standard, esce dalla sintesi, dalla messa in prospettiva, dalla conclusione delle Histoire(s). Ma questo film non è solo un nuovo montaggio di immagini esistenti in Histoire(s), è un film 'pieno di vita' secondo l'espressione del regista. Ciò che Godard svela in questi momenti, è il valore introspettivo della sua riflessione, in atto, sull'immagine. Non fare della storia del cinema un monumento cronologico statico, ma un sogno filosofico immemorabile sull'inizio collettivo degli sguardi e sulla gestione privata delle tracce e delle lacune di questa storia.

Synopsis : Boris, modeste fonctionnaire russe, fait partie d'une mission envoyée en Italie pour un congrès sur la paix. Aux portes de Venise, il est malencontreusement séparé de ses camarades et se retrouve seul et sans ressource. Endoctriné par la propagande de son pays, il est convaincu de pénétrer dans le plus décadent des états capitalistes. Puis, Boris rencontre Maria, jeune Vénitienne au coeur simple qui lui ouvrira les yeux sur son erreur, mais il devra encore faire face à ses compatriotes qui l'accuseront de trahison.

Synopsis : Paul Braconnier vive un inferno coniugale con sua moglie, una donna spregevole e alcolizzata. I due cercano di abbattersi a vicenda in ogni modo possibile. Paul si rivolge ad un celebre avvocato che gli insegna involontariamente come portare a termine il suo crimine. Paul rientra in casa, uccide la moglie e si costituisce alla polizia. Difeso dall'avvocato, viene assolto e torna trionfante nel suo paese.
