Gaumont CEO Sidonie Dumas is a key player in the global film and television industry. Founded in 1895, Gaumont is the world’s oldest extant film and television production company. Proudly sporting its daisy logo, the company is celebrating its 130th anniversary in 2025.
Under Dumas’ leadership, Gaumont endeavoured to preserve its rich cinematographic heritage by restoring films from its vast catalogue of over 1,500 works, including such classics as Joseph Losey’s Don Giovanni, Georges Lautner’s Crooks in Clover, André Hunnebelle’s Fantômas, Francis Veber’s The Dinner Game, and Luc Besson’s The Fifth Element, while keeping its sights firmly fixed on the future.
Dumas also produced an eclectic array of critically and commercially acclaimed films, including Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache’s The Intouchables (50 million tickets sold worldwide), Albert Dupontel’s See You Up There (5 César Prizes), Xavier Giannoli’s Lost Illusions (7 César Prizes), and, recently, Trần Anh Hùng’s The Taste of Things (Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival).
For more than a decade, Dumas has driven Gaumont’s global expansion by opening new offices in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy, producing such hit series as NBC’s Hannibal, Netflix’s Emmy Award-nominated Narcos and Lupin (the first French series to enter the Top 10 of Netflix’s most-viewed series in the United States), Prime’s Totems, Apple TV+’s Stillwater, and, most recently, Disney+’s Becoming Karl Lagerfeld.
Dumas’ rigorous approach, coupled with her teams’ creative and innovative efforts, helped affirm Gaumont’s pioneering role in an ever-shifting sector by diversifying production, upholding film history, and defending the cause of cinema.
Gaumont is fully committed to a talent-oriented strategy by fostering long-term relationships with creators and supporting them every step of the way.
With her daring, modern approach and her commitment to innovation, Dumas has strengthened Gaumont’s position on the global scene, ensuring the success of this iconic institution of cinema for many years to come.
She and her teams are among the most ardent defenders of cinema as an art form and strive to support its evolution.
