Synopsis :  Gilles Mauvoisin débarque un 1er novembre dans le port de La Rochelle. Il vient recueillir la succession de son oncle, un important homme d'affaire qui régnait sur la ville de manière occulte. Très vite, Gilles sent peser sur lui l'hostilité des notables. L'oncle a laissé une jeune et jolie veuve, Colette, qui se voit soupçonnée d'avoir empoisonné son mari. Gilles découvrira la vraie coupable, renoncera à son héritage et repartira avec la jeune femme.

Synopsis :  Gaston, who lost his memory in World War I, has lived in a home for 10 years. In the hope of restoring his memory, Duchess Dupont-Dufort decides to let him spend a few days with each of the five families who've laid claim to him. Synopsis :  Riche, jeune et jolie, Micheline vit seule avec un père qui cède à tous ses caprices d'enfant gâtée. Décidés à lui donner une bonne leçon, Jacques et ses amis la séquestrent dans une cabane forestière, où elle doit accomplir d'innombrables besognes domestiques. Synopsis :  Georgette's job as a cleaning woman has enabled her to ferret out the secrets of her three employers. She knows that Lethouard is overly fond of the ladies, that he steals and will even commit murder on occasion. Georgette has found out that Francine used to take part in orgies when she was underage; that Cibergue, the director of the church club is a vaudeville drag queen. But Georgette talks nineteen to the dozen and unwittingly sparks off a wave of blackmail between the three characters.

Synopsis :  Août 1944: la guerre finie, Pierre Roubier rentre chez lui et découvre sa femme dans les bras de son amant. De colère, il les abat tous deux d'un coup de mitraillette, mais, grâce à son passé de résistant, écope d'une peine symbolique. Il s'exile à Lisbonne où il rencontre Kathleen Dinver, elle-même aux prises avec un passé pesant: elle est en effet soupçonnée par l'opinion publique d'avoir contribué à la mort de son mari dans un tragique accident. Un amour naît entre Pierre et Kathleen, qui va être contrarié par le poids du passé.
