Synopsis : Un chirurgien célèbre et âgé, Guillaume Vautier, tombe amoureux d'une jeune foraine, Hélène. Celle-ci est éprise de Jean, un trapéziste. Cependant, elle se laisse tenter par le luxe que lui offre Vautier et ne tarde pas à partager sa vie. Un jour, Hélène retrouve Jean qui la persuade de l'accompagner dans sa vie de nomade. Vautier souhaite la récupérer, pourtant, il va soigner et sauver Jean, victime d'un accident de trapèze, et devant l'amour des jeunes gens, il s'effacera.
