Synopsis :  À Sainte-Marie-La-Mauderne, petit village portuaire du nord du Canada, les habitants, autrefois de fiers pêcheurs, sont désormais réduits à vivre aux crochets des allocations gouvernementales. Pour satisfaire aux exigences des assureurs de l'entreprise qui envisage d'implanter une usine chez eux et de leur procurer à nouveau du travail, le village doit garantir la présence permanente d'un médecin. Germain Lesage, un simple villageois, décide de prendre les choses en main et, pour attirer un médecin, entreprend de transformer la petite localité en endroit de rêve. Ralliés à la cause, les 125 habitants vont tout faire pour convaincre ce dernier de venir s'établir chez eux, mais entre séduction et mensonge la frontière est mince...
