Synopsis :  Wolves are back in the Mercantour hills, and suddenly a wave of carnage is sweeping this region of Southern France, with sheep being killed and lambs devoured. A young Canadian, specialist in protecting bears back home, has come to study the wolves, much to the annoyance of the local sheperds. He is drawn to the free spirited Camille, part-time plumber and musician. Meanwhile in Paris, Commissaire Adamsberg is following the affair of the wolves with great interest...

Synopsis :  Ca commence à Londres, à l'orée du cimetière de Highgate, où Danglard et Camille font une macabre découverte : dix-neuf paires de chaussures et, dans chacune de ces chaussures, un pied. Un pied coupé. Ca continue dans un pavillon de la banlieue parisienne, où Adamsberg et Retancourt se trouvent face au massacre le plus bestial de leurs carrières pourtant bien remplies : un corps découpé en tellement de morceaux qu'il n'en reste littéralement plus rien. Comme dit l'homologue autrichien d'Adamsberg, le type qui a fait ça, c'est un Zerquetscher.
