Synopsis :  Kommissar Joss ist schmerzlich betroffen vom Tod seines Kollegen Gouvion, der während eines Überfalls umgekommen ist. Um seinen Freund zu rächen, erfindet er den Coup des Jahrhunderts: Er setzt zwei Banden auf denselben Fall und lässt sie sich gegenseitig umbringen. Bertone, overwhelmed by what has just happened, realizes his mistake, refuses to collaborate with the Germans and chooses to die with the other condemned prisoners. Gold Lion, Venice Festival, 1959.
